John Chow is now 301′ing Google bot to a Google compliant johnchow.ca domain. Johnchow.com will still remain up and sell text links ads and paid posts but johnchow.ca will be fully 100% Google compliant John tells me.

The site is already ranking very well for some of John’s old terms.

Pretty smart compromise for both Google and John.

What if while during a sign up process you had an opt in checkbox which you agreed that you were a total idiot. Would you notice?

I am betting you wouldn’t.

What if I put in a privacy policy that says that I can do anything I want with your data including rights to ownership. Would you still do it?

I am betting you would.

What if I put in a terms of service that said I rule and you lose in every way imaginable. Would you still do it?

I am betting you would.

Why? Because almost every major website does exactly these things. Ever read the Facebook terms of service? Ever read any affiliate offer’s privacy policy?

Are these companies evil? No… this disclosure crap has gotten so out of hand that they have to do this to cover their tracks.

Now Google, for their own commercial interests are strongly campaigning for MORE government mandated disclosure.

Where does it end? It doesn’t.

We have become SO NUMB to these massive agreements and terms of services and privacy policies that nobody ever could possible read, that it has had exactly the opposite effect.

Here is what every blog will have in the footer within a couple years-

“Disclosure: I am benefiting financially or otherwise from everything you click on, read, or look at while on my website.” – In fact I might add that today.

But who does that help??

When can we get back to personal responsibility? Or can we ever?

I have had a Sprint account for 9 years. I got my first “smart phone” in 2004.

A couple years ago the iPhone was released on AT&T. I really never could consider it because there was next to no AT&T coverage here in Nebraska. As of right now we have the fastest AT&T coverage in the world (according the AT&T reps) because we have the newest AT&T towers.

But I have been waiting to see what Sprint would come out with that was comparable.

They miss the boat on getting the Blackberry Bold…

They miss the boat on getting any of the HTC phones….

So I wait until the big thing came a couple weeks ago… the Palm Pre.

Been playing with it for the last week… its junk…

I give up.

I got a new iPhone 3gs this morning. Unreal…

Its only been 1 day but… I am very happy and we will be moving all of our lines over to AT&T in the next week.

This will be the first year in the last 6 years I am not attending Search Engine Strategies, San Jose event. It really marks a end of a era for me. This was the first conference I ever attended and paid many years to send our entire team. Now, I feel the conference itself (other then networking) has very little value to me. Thats not to say it has no value to anyone… Just for me and where I am business wise the New York Affiliate Summit is a much better value.

Companies are pulling there money out of search and putting it into performance based marketing so for us its a no brainier to choose the Affiliate Summit East Conference.

Conferences this Summer & Fall I Am Going To

Snods had brief outage this weekend but otherwise is off to a awesome start! If you have not checked out Snods yet its a real time strategy game that is based around twitter.

Since I originally wrote about the new twitter game Snods last week I have seen a LOT of familiar faces playing. Also a lot have been asking for tips on how to play. One of the things I really like about Snods is that it takes like 10 minutes a day to play.

Here are my tips from what I have learned so far…. Feel free to contribute any tips in comments.

Turn off the chatter:

The cool thing about SNODS is that it gives you full control over the communication that goes on over twitter. Don’t piss off your followers… First thing go into the communication settings and turn off what you do not want.

Have the last laugh:

Since you get a 20% bonus for having your cells full wait until later in the day to fill them. What you dont want to do is shoot your wad on captives before noon then get nuked and have no recourse.

Just like affiliate marketing we want to make money while we sleep .

Steal from the poor:

Yup thats right… *TRUST ME* When you have your steal attempts goto the top 100 list then work your way from the BOTTOM up. The weaker on the top 100 will have less guards and probably have not played for like 12 hours meaning they have fat bank for you to nab.

Newbie Mistakes:

You get 1 free solitary confinement. Make sure you use it

Make sure you upgrade stuff evenly until you decide what you want to focus on. A good mix of guards/vault/captive quantity.

I am hoping some skilled players will get in the game cause I need some competition =P
